JSI was formed to develop, design, implement, guide, and sustain a justice system that enhances and favorably changes lives; develops, pilots, refines, and establishes detailed plans for strengthening community and technology-enabled justice systems; leverages virtual learning, behavior modification, employment, and lessons learned with supportive infrastructure; and delivers individualized services that promotes an effective and efficient justice system for all. JSI is self-sustaining with no direct cost to the taxpayer and manages and procures corporate and private funding to operate.

501(c)(3) Filing Status: Justice Systems Institute (“JSI”) was incorporated as a Delaware corporation on November 20, 2020 for purposes which are exclusively charitable within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 or the corresponding provision of any future United States Internal Revenue Law. JSI is in the process of filing an exemption application, which, if approved by the IRS, is recognized to be back to the date the Company was organized. Thus, as provided by the IRS, when JSI’s application is filed, and while the application is pending, the Company can treat itself as exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3).
Donations: At this time, while the Company is in the 501(c)(3) filing and approval process the Company does not provide any assurance of donation deductibility. If the Company qualifies for 501(c)(3) tax exemption for the period in which the contribution is made, the contribution will be tax-deductible by the donor. Alternatively, if the Company ultimately does not qualify for exemption, then the contribution will not be tax deductible.
